Igniting the full potential in every student.

The Spark Success Philosophy

At Spark Success we believe that every child possesses unique skills & strengths to draw upon when navigating challenges. To ignite their full potential, we guide them in developing awareness of the inner workings of their brain and building a toolkit of skills & strategies required to demonstrate the best of themselves and their learning in the classroom and beyond.

Instruction is individually-tailored and targets specific academic and executive skills. In learning journeys there is no one-size-fits-all approach, so we prioritize building strong relationships with students and families, drawing from a vast collection of resources and methods to implement a specialized program of support. The goal of each session is to increase awareness, confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills because students themselves are the most important stakeholders in their educational journeys.

I bring the same philosophy and expertise to my work with parents and families. Families are essential in creating opportunities for children to be fulfilled and successful. At Spark Success Coaching I aim to provide families with insight, strategies, and resources to build deeper understanding and more effective communication to tackle the difficult tasks of parenting in today's fast-paced and high-stakes environments.

The Executive Function Coaching Model at Spark Success Coaching

All children require direct support from parents and educators to develop effective executive skills. Many require explicit instruction and continuous coaching to build a strong foundation on which to grow. This can be particularly true for neurodiverse children with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, anxiety disorders and other conditions that impact executive functioning skills. At Spark Success Coaching, we approach executive skills coaching using a cycle of assessment, goal-setting, repeated opportunities for practice, monitoring & evaluation.

Parent & Family Coaching

Executive Dysfunction & Relationships

Parents and families are integral and effective agents of support & change for teens and adolescents. Research finds that successful authoritative parent fosters the best outcomes among adolescents (Steinberg, Lamborn, Dornbusch, & Darling, 2001) and includes:

  • Consistent monitoring
  • Positive parenting-child relationships
  • Some child autonomy

Unfortunately, many families with children who struggle with executive skill deficits, negative patterns of parent-child interactions develop over time leading frustration and escalation of negative behavior patters in children resulting in:

  • Conflict
  • Disengagement
  • Control
  • Criticism
